# BERKANAN HANGING DECORATION

The Berkanan Hanging Decoration is a hand made wooden Yule ornament carrying Isar Oakmund's design of the Berkanan rune, finished with twine for hanging. Small batch. When they are gone, they are gone.

Berkanan is the rune of the birch tree, of growth, nurturing and the gentle but persistent force of new life finding its way through. Associated with birth, regeneration and the sheltering of what is young and tender, it is one of the warmest runes in the Elder Futhark. At Yule - the turning point at which the light begins its return and the promise of spring is made, however distant - Berkanan belongs on the tree. The birch is one of the first trees to leaf in spring. Hanging its rune at midwinter is an act of patient faith in what is coming.
