Silver was worn to catch the eye and the attention of the gods. Used in amulets, Thor’s hammer jewellery, broaches and cloak pins, silver connected the wearer to divine favour, especially from gods like Thor and Freyja.
Silver was worn to signal, to trade, to protect. In Viking culture, silver was both wealth and warding. It carried the weight of status and a declaration of faith in the old gods.
