GOD OF INK - THE NORDIC TATTOO T-SHIRT

The God of Ink.
This design was created as the emblem for our Nordic Tattoo book project and the Jorvik Tattoo Moot - the first historical tattoo convention of its kind in York, UK. The God of Ink represents the shared roots of art, craft, and mythology across the North.
The Godmask was drawn by Isar Oakmund in an early Northern style, older than the Viking Age, to honour the artistic heritage that shaped Nordic culture long before it was called that.
It stands for creativity, creation, and craft - the spark found in the gods and in all who make something from nothing. Some might see Bragi, the god of poetry; others, Thor, patron of artisans; or Odin, the shaper of worlds. Whatever name you give it, it’s a mark of the creative force that runs through all things.
A note from Isar Oakmund
"When you buy this product, you are helping us build a community in growth - The Viking/European historical tattoo community. When I started tattooing, this was a tiny segment of the tattoo industry, it now boasts more than 150 artists, and is ever expanding and improving.
We are working hard to promote the artists within the genre, ensuring their creative survival and space to grow, and to create accessibility for everyone interested, by creating The Nordic Tattoo book featuring the many artists, as well as building tattoo events and sharing information about the genre. This is hard work, and it is costly work, so all your help is highly appreciated!
We thank you for your support!"
