What makes this piece different from every other decorated bone in the Northern Black collection is how it was made. May did not design the bindrune at a desk. She cast her own rune stones first and let fate decide which runes would be bound together. The composition was not planned. It was drawn. Whatever runes landed, those are the ones that belong to this piece and to whoever its owner turns out to be. The result is a bindrune that is genuinely unique, not just in the sense that it is hand made, but in the sense that it could not have been made any other way.

The Triskele sits alongside the bindrune, a symbol long associated with fate, destiny and the turning of cycles. Its presence here is not decorative. It is an acknowledgment of the process that made this piece what it is.

May Oakmund painted and decorated this skull entirely by hand. It is an original work of runic art, conceived through divination and executed with craft.
