HANGING LUST SKULL IN FRAME

The Skull of Lust is a handcrafted resin sculpture designed and sculpted in-house at Northern Black, engraved with bindrunes representing lust, passion and drive - the primal force that fuels creation, ambition and longing. For this piece, the skull has been sprayed in a textured gold and mounted in a shadow box surrounded by pink and white florals. The gold pulls the heat of the subject matter toward something elemental and precious. The florals do not soften what the skull is about. They frame it, which is different.

The Vikings were not a people who sanitised desire. Lust in the Norse tradition was understood as a force with genuine power - creative, consuming and deeply human. The bindrunes on this skull carry that understanding. This is not a cautionary object. It is an honest one.
