An ancient symbol for many cultures. In The Minoan Culture for instance (Crete 1900-1200 BC) it meant female divinity.
According to legend, Artemis ruled with a double- headed axe as her sceptre.
An amulet for protection and power. Found especially on Crete, but also Lundsbakke/DK, exhibited at Denmarks National Museum.
