This pendant traces back to a Gotlandic hoard from the Viking Age (approx. 800–1100 AD). At its centre sits a carnelian crystal - set in bronze - of a kind the Vikings prized for more than its colour: crystals like this were likely carried as magnifying glasses as much as ornament.

The setting itself carries meaning. Its four-part form echoes cycles the Vikings lived by - the four seasons, the four cardinal directions - while three small spheres reference the Trinity, a detail that speaks to the overlapping beliefs of the late Viking Age, when Norse and Christian symbolism sat side by side.

Cast in bronze and set with a genuine carnelian crystal.
