- Gestumblindi said, "Who are the twain that on ten feet run? Three eyes they have,
- but only one tail. Guess not this riddle, Heithrek!"
Heithrek replied "Good is thy riddle, Gestumblindi, and guessed it is, That is Odin, riding on Sleipnir"
The Design
Sleipnir, the magical offspring of Loki the Trickster god and the mighty Svaðilfari, the steed used the construct the wall surrounding Asgard.
Sleipnir serves as the warhorse of Odin himself, and is depicted on several artefacts of the Viking age, most notably the Tjängvide and Andre stones from Gotland, Sweden. He is described as the best of all horses, and is used to journey to Hel in several stories.
In the age of the Vikings, a good horse was a sign of both wealth and fortunes blessings of the gods, as hard work and journeys were both an integral part of gaining wealth and keeping oneself alive.
Designed by Isar Oakmund, the design is based on the Ringerike style, and Sleipnir is posed in a medieval rampant form, to create a powerful and dynamic movement on the shirt.
